We’re proud to once again sponsor a very special event close to our hearts: the annual Charity Golf Day at Barnham Broom, taking place this year on Friday, 10th October. Now in its 27th year, this fantastic day will be raising vital funds for two incredible causes: Macmillan Cancer Support and, for the first time this year, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Behind the scenes of this much-loved event is local Macmillan Ambassador, Graham Knights, who has been fundraising for the charity since 1997. Thanks to his dedication and the incredible generosity of players, sponsors, and donors, the event has so far raised an incredible £322,000. Every single penny has gone directly to the charity, helping Macmillan Nurses continue their vital work across Norfolk communities.

A Day of Golf, Giving, and Great Company
This year promises another brilliant day on the Championship Valley Course at Barnham Broom, with a team format for groups of four, on-course challenges like “Beat the Pro”, longest drive and nearest-the-pin prizes, plus plenty of friendly competition. Off the green, guests can enjoy refreshments, take part in a bumper raffle, and bid in a silent (or sometimes live) auction packed with rounds of golf donated by clubs from across the region.
Why We’re Proud to Sponsor
As a sponsor for five years now, we’ve been able to help transform this day into more than just a fundraiser, it’s become a highlight in the calendar for local businesses, too.
When asked what MCB’s sponsorship meant to the charity, Graham Knights said, “In a nutshell, Mark has many excellent business contacts who attend the day, turning the event into more of a corporate day whereby companies can enter teams and entertain clients. He has also introduced secondary sponsors who will cover the cost of parts of the event (e.g. prize table), which allows more money to go directly to the charity.”
Last year was a particularly proud moment. With the goal of raising £25,000 to mark 25 years of fundraising, the event raised over £32,000 in just one day. That’s the power of people pulling together.

Want to Get Involved?
Whether you’re a golfer looking to enter a team, a business wanting to sponsor part of the day, or someone who’d just love to support the cause, we’d love to hear from you. The day is open to everyone, but with a maximum of 28 teams able to take part, early interest is encouraged.
You can reach out to Graham Knights or Mark Burton for more information. Keep an eye on our social media for updates closer to the time.
Here’s to another incredible day, full of laughter, generosity, and making a real difference.
